Dark Forest Key Art / Game Location Concept - The Last Child: Valdoria

Working on a game The Last Child: Valdoria I was in charge of creating key concepts for demo.

This concept art of a final location of the demo version of the game - the dark forest. This fantasy game shows you two opposite sides of its world. This location reveals a new gameplay mechanics such as traps and a player has to solve puzzles in order to go further. Eventually, the player finds the dark side of the forest that might be even darker than the things that had happened before.

This task was unusual for my work in TaMa Studios because a had to wear many hats: concept artist, level designer and game designer. The thing is when I got the task, it seemed a little bit boring, but I had ideas how to make it more interactive for players to enhance immersion in the lore, gameplay and plot. I discussed my ideas with a team and we desided to extend the location. I added extra space, made a blocking in Blender, came up with new parts of the level and divided it into 5 parts. The main part became "Ruins" - the ruins of an ancient temple that gives us more information about lore and the final point of the location - "Pillars" (I won't tell more about pillars because of the spoilers). The final concept consist of final 5 artworks.
